Antique bird print titled '1. Red Grouse 2. Partridge 3. Black Cock 4. Grey Hen 5. Ptarmigan'. Several types of game bird; from left to right, a partridge, red grouse, ptarmigan, black cock and grey hen. This print originates from 'A History of the Earth and Animated Nature' by Oliver Goldsmith. Goldsmith's Animated Nature went through over twenty editions into the Victorian era and served as a popular source of information about the natural world. This print is from the 1862 edition published by Blackie & Son.
Artists and Engravers: Oliver Goldsmith (10 November 1728, 4 April 1774) was an Irish novelist, playwright and poet.
