A plate of three rodents from Pierre Auguste Joseph Drapiez's Dictionnaire Classique des Sciences Naturelles, published in 1845. The sheet is an engraving with original hand color, engraved by Desmares. The three animals are lettered below: "1. Ecureuil a ventre dore, Sciurus aureventer", "2. Houtia de Poey, Capromys Poeyi" and "3. Lemming vulgaire, Georychus lemmus".

The golden-bellied squirrel is drawn at the lower center, standing upright on a dead branch, with a long plume of a tail that curves up the side of the sheet. The hutia of Poey, a heavy dark-furred rodent with a long scaly tail and a pale underside, is placed at the top, and the small dark lemming is in the middle. The hutia, Capromys poeyi, is a rodent of Cuba.

Drapiez was a Belgian naturalist, and his Dictionnaire was issued in Brussels in 1845.
