Antique print, titled: 'Taf. XLI. Haliaetos Albicilla. Weissschwanziger Seeadler, junges Weibchen.'

This plate shows the white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), also known as the ern, erne, gray eagle, Eurasian sea eagle and white-tailed sea-eagle. Young female.

This original antique print originates from: "Die Raubvögel Deutschlands und des angrenzenden Mitteleuropas" by Oskar von Riesenthal. Published Gera, S. B. Griesbach 1894. Second edition of this plate set first published in 1876-78, including several much-sought depictions of falcons. "As these birds of prey are rendered with the utmost attention to detail, the description of their exterior may be confined to that which is not evident from the images or whatever is of particular noteworthiness". Ref: Nissen, IVB 782. OCLC 302340448. Cf. Harting 127.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Julius Adolf Oskar von Riesenthal' after an anonymous artist. Julius Adolf Oskar von Riesenthal (18 September 1830, 22 January 1898) was a German forester, ornithologist, hunter and writer.
