Antique Common Kestrel Bird Print by Lilian M. Medland, 1908

A finely detailed original antique ornithological plate depicting a Common Kestrel perched on a leafy branch.

The bird is shown in an elegant upright pose, with its long tail, spotted upper plumage, alert expression and slender falcon form carefully rendered. Lilian M. Medland’s restrained monochrome treatment gives the composition both scientific interest and a refined decorative quality.

The plate was created for Charles Stonham’s important natural-history publication The Birds of the British Islands, illustrated by Lilian M. Medland and published in London by E. Grant Richards in the early 20th century.

Its balanced portrait composition makes the print particularly suitable for a library, study, hallway, country-house interior or collection of antique ornithological and wildlife art.

This is an original antique print dating from 1908. It is over 100 years old and is not a modern reproduction.
