Greenland cod, pout and poor cod, a lithograph from Skandinaviens Fiskar, the Swedish work on the fishes of Scandinavia (running head "Pisces Scandinaviae"), plate "Tab. XXIIA". The three fishes are numbered 1 to 3 and listed in the caption as "Gadus ogac, G. luscus, G. gracilis". The draftsman's credit "C. Erdmann ad nat. delin." appears at the lower left, and the work was published in Stockholm by P. A. Norstedt & Söner.
The Greenland cod is at the top, a long fish with a single chin barbel and rounded fins, shown heading to the left. In the middle the pout, a deeper-bodied fish with a dark blotch at the base of the pectoral fin and a tall first dorsal, faces to the right. At the bottom the poor cod is drawn slimmer and more streamlined, again facing left. All three are printed in soft gray tones.
The Greenland cod is a species of cold Arctic and North Atlantic waters, found along the coasts of Greenland and Arctic Canada.
